Do you remember when you were young, playing with your mom’s old clothes? I do, we had a secret box in our attic which was full of old clothes of my mom’s and which I visited quite often. I played dress-up and cut them to make them the way I liked, it was so much fun!  Then there was the time when my love for vintage started to grow. Now, I am still addicted to visiting flea markets, vintage shops and second-hand buying.  I love that vintage clothes have their own story, are unique, and I love the smell of old clothes. Here in the Amsterdam we have nine streets with all kinds of vintage shops. It is called “de negen straatjes”, and it is really worth a visit when you are here. (more…)

Deep down on the bottom of my fashion soul, I’ll always be a vintage girl. I might explore fields of Nordic minimalism or Parisian classics but eventually find my way back to funky accessories from the ‘70s or search for inspiration in the ‘50s and ‘60s (do I have to say “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”? …If only the time machine was a real thing…)

That is why my choice for this styling was pretty clear when scouting the brown skirt with brown belt by “ONLY”. It truly resembles a 1950s piece, though with the modern twist of having a knee length. So how to combine this? I allowed myself to take an inspirational glimpse at the Louis Vuitton fall 2010 collection (thanks Marc Jacobs!) since it contained various skirts like the one I chose.
