Festival fever!
Are you ready for the festival season? We have got some amazing festivals here in the Netherlands like Dancevalley, Mysteryland, Pinkpop. But Lowlands is definitely my favorite festival, it is a three day festival with music, theater, food and markets, totally amazing!
But what are you going to wear at a festival? You want to be comfortable and looking chic at the same time, don’t you? There are a couple of style rules at festivals. Denim shorts or shorts in general are a big plus combined with a simple tee. Bohemian dresses with flower prints are also really a do. Rubber wellies are stylish and handy when the weather is kind of unpredictable and denim jackets and denim blouses are a must as well.
This is my festival outfit. I am wearing denim shorts, flag printed top and a denim shirt from ONLY and a Pieces bag.
Happy festival season!
Time
I think I seriously need a course in time-management. I am so busy at the moment and I keep on saying “yes” to all sorts of projects (very nice things, but still). But there comes a time when you have to say “no” and that’s definitely not my strongest point.
I have my internship now where I am working at least about 45 hours a week, my part-time job, my essay for school, my blog, my sponsors, my overloaded inbox, some very nice writing projects like this one, discussing a TV-show at the moment, starting up a web shop, working out and besides that I like to have a social life with my boyfriend, family and friends! So sometimes I get a little bit crazy :-)
Fruity prints
Miuccia Prada and Stella McCartney were both inspired by fruit. Prada showed bold banana prints while McCartney opted for a citrus mix: lemons, oranges, limes and grapefruit. (Although she did do bananas in the past, in her spring 2001 Chloé lineup.)
Thanks to Muccia and Stella, I now like bananas, oranges, apples and strawberries on my clothes. Actually, like is not a good word to describe my latest obsession J
That’s why I was so happy to find a more affordable option of the fruit print top at ONLY. Very Stella but at a fraction of the cost! I love it so much!
Are you also so hungry for these fruit prints and what are your favorite fruits?
White is the new black
The fashion rule is broken! White is the new black!
White was dominating the spring/summer catwalks. Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein and Derek Lam are just a few of the designers leading the look. We see a lot of summery white with plenty of linen, eyelet, lace and macrame.
And now white is also in every shop’s display and on the rack and I must say that I love it! That’s why, for this look, I have chosen a white lace dress from ONLY. I love it a lot and I think it is perfect for summer!
And are you a bit scared of wearing all white? Pop it off with some brights to make your look extra trendy, wear it together with neutral tones (nude will do great) and layer different textures to add dimension to your outfit.
It seems that the dark days are over, welcome bright and sunny white!
Jeans shopping
Shopping for jeans doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Here’s a guide I found to be very helpful
to help me in finding the perfect pair of jeans.
1. Choose stores which make you comfortable, not those with unfriendly or unhelpful salespeople who make you want to leave quickly. It may take a while to find the perfect pair of jeans.
2. Select many different styles, even if you think they may not be flattering, and bring them into the dressing room at the same time so that you can compare them.
3. Different cuts have a better fit for different bodies. Sometimes jeans will be a perfect fit in one place and too loose or tight in another. These jeans are not for you; they will not mold themselves to your body, especially if they are too loose. (more…)
Let the sunshine in
It´s raining at the moment, and it’s so cold.. I am thinking about my summer holidays already. If you have the same climate as mine in your country, I think you will have the same thoughts right now J
I am thinking about where to go. Obviously, I love the sun. Holidays in the cold or those involving snow are my worst kind of nightmare. I’ve been on these types of holidays but have hated every minute. I look forward to swimming in a beautiful blue sea under a bright sun and being able to wear my nice summer dresses. I think the atmosphere in a hot climate is so much more therapeutic and relaxing. People generally have a better sense of well being in sunny warm weather.
I’ve been to lots of warm countries and enjoyed most of them, but my favorite and most frequently visited is Greece. To me it’s simply the most beautiful country I’ve been to. It has so many things; friendly people, a nice climate, wonderful beaches and pretty villages. (more…)
Who is your Style icon?
A question that I’ve been asked a lot lately in interviews is who my style icon is. But what is a style icon? Is a style icon a fashion victim, someone who follows all the trends all the time? This couldn’t be further from the truth! They are actually women who have the whole package: fashion, style, personality and confidence. Such a person doesn’t ever follow a fashion trend, but creates them instead.
But to answer the question, I would say Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Not only has she dazzled the whole world with her creations, but she is responsible for the famous “little black dress” and her famous perfume, among many other things. But I also admire Jackie Kennedy, she might have had a tormented life, but her fashion style was way ahead of her time. She was among the first women who wore jackets designed by Coco Chanel with a simple pair of jeans. Another important style icon for me is Audrey Hepburn with her slender figure and pixie haircut. I love the simple yet fabulous way she wore even the most common outfits. (more…)
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Don’t you just love Christmas? When the streets are decorated, lights are everywhere, the smell of the Christmas trees is coming towards you, when it’s cold outside, and inside it’s nice and warm. I know I do!
My Christmases are all about decorating the house and setting up the Christmas tree, visiting family, opening presents, playing corny board games like Monopoly and eating lots of food. Sounds dull, but I am really looking forward to it!
But why a post about Christmas? Well, this wonderful cardigan (ONLY Mandi knitted cardigan) reminded me of it! I love the reindeer print and the snowflakes, and the fact that it is all cozy and warm. And I have been really into the knee highs/ shorts combination lately, I am wearing the ONLY Charly highwaisted shorts with some grey knee socks. A real winter outfit, hope you like it!
