Festival fever!
Are you ready for the festival season? We have got some amazing festivals here in the Netherlands like Dancevalley, Mysteryland, Pinkpop. But Lowlands is definitely my favorite festival, it is a three day festival with music, theater, food and markets, totally amazing!
But what are you going to wear at a festival? You want to be comfortable and looking chic at the same time, don’t you? There are a couple of style rules at festivals. Denim shorts or shorts in general are a big plus combined with a simple tee. Bohemian dresses with flower prints are also really a do. Rubber wellies are stylish and handy when the weather is kind of unpredictable and denim jackets and denim blouses are a must as well.
This is my festival outfit. I am wearing denim shorts, flag printed top and a denim shirt from ONLY and a Pieces bag.
Happy festival season!
Time
I think I seriously need a course in time-management. I am so busy at the moment and I keep on saying “yes” to all sorts of projects (very nice things, but still). But there comes a time when you have to say “no” and that’s definitely not my strongest point.
I have my internship now where I am working at least about 45 hours a week, my part-time job, my essay for school, my blog, my sponsors, my overloaded inbox, some very nice writing projects like this one, discussing a TV-show at the moment, starting up a web shop, working out and besides that I like to have a social life with my boyfriend, family and friends! So sometimes I get a little bit crazy :-)
Fruity prints
Miuccia Prada and Stella McCartney were both inspired by fruit. Prada showed bold banana prints while McCartney opted for a citrus mix: lemons, oranges, limes and grapefruit. (Although she did do bananas in the past, in her spring 2001 Chloé lineup.)
Thanks to Muccia and Stella, I now like bananas, oranges, apples and strawberries on my clothes. Actually, like is not a good word to describe my latest obsession J
That’s why I was so happy to find a more affordable option of the fruit print top at ONLY. Very Stella but at a fraction of the cost! I love it so much!
Are you also so hungry for these fruit prints and what are your favorite fruits?
White is the new black
The fashion rule is broken! White is the new black!
White was dominating the spring/summer catwalks. Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein and Derek Lam are just a few of the designers leading the look. We see a lot of summery white with plenty of linen, eyelet, lace and macrame.
And now white is also in every shop’s display and on the rack and I must say that I love it! That’s why, for this look, I have chosen a white lace dress from ONLY. I love it a lot and I think it is perfect for summer!
And are you a bit scared of wearing all white? Pop it off with some brights to make your look extra trendy, wear it together with neutral tones (nude will do great) and layer different textures to add dimension to your outfit.
It seems that the dark days are over, welcome bright and sunny white!
Brights
Lime and green color, but also fuchsia, orange and blue for this Spring and Summer dominate plain solid colors in their fluorescent variants.
This summer will be more fluorescent than ever! The trends on the catwalks and fashion shows presented in the new fashion collections leave no doubt, time is back for the vivid colors and bright colors. Not only the classic yellow and acid green, but the orange, pink and purple become stronger and more determined.
I must say that I love this trend! That’s why I was immediately in love with this orange top from ONLY. And I think it is a good thing to mix up brights with black and other brights. So that’s why I am wearing my black leather jacket and black jeans from ONLY as well. And to add more brightness to the outfit, I finished it off with a yellow clutch.
Enjoy your fluorescent summer lovelies! (more…)
J’adore vintage!
Do you remember when you were young, playing with your mom’s old clothes? I do, we had a secret box in our attic which was full of old clothes of my mom’s and which I visited quite often. I played dress-up and cut them to make them the way I liked, it was so much fun! Then there was the time when my love for vintage started to grow. Now, I am still addicted to visiting flea markets, vintage shops and second-hand buying. I love that vintage clothes have their own story, are unique, and I love the smell of old clothes. Here in the Amsterdam we have nine streets with all kinds of vintage shops. It is called “de negen straatjes”, and it is really worth a visit when you are here. (more…)
Thank you for the music
I have been so busy lately. I just moved most (and believe me that is quite a lot!) of my stuff to my room in Amsterdam which I am renting because I am going to intern at a big fashion brand in Amsterdam. Besides that, I am in my last week of my studies, and I have to turn in lots of papers. And on top of it all, I am going to Milan in 3 days, and I have to pack for that as well. Of course these are all wonderful things to do, but it also kind of stresses me out.
That’s why today I’m really thankful for the music.. Ah, music ..It relaxes me, it moves me and gets me going. Music affects me in so many ways. Sometimes it makes me sad, other times very happy. Music brings back memories, some bad but mostly great memories.
My favorites are definitely Radiohead, The Doors, Frank Sinatra, Vera Lynn, Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich. But I also love some great funky house when I am clubbing. (more…)
