Let me introduce myself to all of you ONLY lovers!

So nice to meet you! I was so honored when ONLY asked me to write for them. I love writing, and I love ONLY so I immediately said yes! But at this moment you must be thinking who is this freaking girl that got so lucky? So in this first post let me tell you a little bit more about myself..

I am Iris, 27 years old ( I know, I am an oldie), and I am Dutch. I live in a small town where fashion definitely comes last so you can probably imagine that I regularly get some crazy stares when I wear something that is considered as “different”. And what does this Dutchie like to do in her oh so little spare-time? I am the editor of my blog fashionzen.blogspot.com which takes the most of my time, I obviously do lots of shopping on- or offline, I design and love drawing, I do some acting, and I love to watch very bad old movies (I know, shame on me).

Furthermore, I am finally busy with pursuing my dream to work in fashion by studying fashion design. It’s a long way that I have come, I first studied International Business and earned my bachelor degree. I worked in that area for about 4 years, but I didn’t feel that it was the area for me. Then 2 years ago, I decided that I really had to do what my heart desires and changed my whole life by living on a scholarship and working 2 jobs to only pay my mortgage. But is definitely worth it because I feel I am in the right place now and I am so much happier now! I love fashion and designing!

Into my Jeans

I am very pleased and honored to be your entertainment for the next few written lines. You may have read my introduction so I will keep from telling more details about me and let you discover this yourself (by kindly checking out my shared blog: “beinglorious”.. or just stay tuned for upcoming posts..)

Instead I’m jumping right in by explaining my outfit that for this initial “meeting” is put together with simple elements since I’d like you to experience me in clothes that resemble my casual self in the matter of comfort and confidence.

Phew – here it goes: cause first I have to confess the fact that I knew very little about the brand ONLY before; however the “confrontation” made me discover just how comfortable the ONLY jeans are…! (more…)

Denim – never out of fashion!

Denim’s an all time favorite! This winter you’ll find it on both shirts, jeans and waistcoats. Don’t be afraid to use ‘em all together and add a chequered shirt for the right look.

Alexa Chung – Steal her look!

A designer bag is named after her, and that’s not without reason! This British “it girl”/model/MTV host/DJ (you name it!) has a feminine but yet raw style which we absolute adore! She is often seen in romantic vintage dresses that she ‘toughens up’ with black booties, or a simple dress styled with an edgy leather jacket – and of cause a big designer bag or a small clutch.

Kate Moss – steal her look!

We love Kate Moss for her style! Get inspiration for your winter party outfit from Kate Moss’ unique style! Curl your hair and give your eye a thick layer of eyeliner. Put on a short dress and style it with black stockings or go bare-legged; finish the look with a casual blazer or a leather jacket to add an edge to the feminine look.

The Aviator Jacket

This season we embrace the ’20s and ’30s aviator style with this fall’s absolute key piece; the aviator jacket. The jacket is characterized by its short fit, the thick leather(like) material, exaggerated sheepskin collars and details like zippers, button loops and belts. We love it!

Copenhagen Fashion Week SS2011

Thursday the 12th of August a colleague and myself went to Copenhagen to explore the upcoming season’s (read: spring / summer 2011) trends.

First stop on the tour was Øksnehallen, which after some lineup sadly disappointed. Besides some fresh and cheeky substantial input from Teko and Kolding Design School, there were few and far between the good ones – and after a quick cup of coffee we were heading towards the Terminal.

Here, the young street brands had settled, and this was indeed emphasized by a raw merchandising and lots of pang colors – much more in ONLY’s taste! There was plenty of inspiration in the form of asymmetric cuts, animal prints, denim and leather.

The last stop on our fashion trip was the Gallery, where the crème de la cream brands had established themselves, and we experienced graphic prints, black and white contrasts, suits, and delicious, bright colors.
